Private banking clients increasingly expect their advisors to deliver timely, personalized investment guidance informed by the full breadth of global market intelligence — not just a subset of what a single analyst has reviewed that week. For HSBC Private Bank's client-facing bankers, investment counsellors, and product specialists, keeping pace with rapidly evolving markets while simultaneously managing deep client relationships had become operationally untenable. The bank's Chief Investment Office produces a comprehensive volume of research reports, and the universe of relevant third-party market data spans thousands of sources. Without a scalable way to synthesize this intelligence, staff faced an unavoidable trade-off: breadth of market awareness or depth of client attention.
HSBC Private Bank developed Wealth Intelligence, a proprietary generative AI ecosystem built entirely in-house and powered by OpenAI's Large Language Model (LLM). Rather than adopting an off-the-shelf tool, the bank's internal engineering teams built the platform to maintain full control over data governance and integration with existing institutional knowledge. The system ingests and synthesizes content from more than 10,000 data sources, including the bank's own award-winning Chief Investment Office reports and a growing library of third-party product information. Deployed initially across Hong Kong and Singapore for client-facing roles, the platform delivers fast, structured access to market intelligence directly within wealth management workflows. A second phase will extend capabilities to product screening and asset allocation recommendations, progressively deepening the system's advisory utility.
Wealth Intelligence launched in September 2025 across Hong Kong and Singapore, with a planned global rollout to follow. The platform's immediate impact is operational: wealth management teams can now access synthesized market intelligence across 10,000+ data sources without manual research, freeing bandwidth for higher-value client interactions.
Qualitative outcomes include accelerated talent upskilling and transformation of client journey workflows, as cited by Lavanya Chari, Head of Wealth and Premier Solutions.
